Objective

Database projects implementing DB2 Universal Database (UDB) technologies including Workgroup Edition, Enterprise Edition, Enterprise Extended Edition (EEE), and Enterprise Server Edition (ESE) on distributed client server open systems platforms with DB2 UDB for Linux, UNIX, and Windows.

Profile

Over ten years database related experience with DB2 distributed client server open systems platforms. IBM Certified Advanced Database Administrator – DB2 UDB v8.1 and IBM Certified Solutions Expert (ICSE) in DB2 UDB Administration, Replication, Clustering, DRDA, and Development with extensive hands on experience including:

  • Server installation, configuration, and upgrade experience on single processor, symmetrical multiprocessing (SMP), massively parallel processor (MPP), cellular multiprocessing (CMP), and nonuniform memory access (NUMA) systems with enterprise storage area networks (SAN).
  • Client installation, configuration, and upgrade experience using both interactive and unattended install profiles for users, developers, and administrators.
  • Instance and database creation, configuration and tuning experience in single node non-partitioned (EE), multiple node partitioned (EEE), and multiple logical node (MLN) partitioned database servers configurations.
  • Client/server communications experience using TCP/IP, NetBios, SNA (APPC), IPX/SPX, and Fast Communications Manager over System Area Networks with TCP/IP and VIA protocols.
  • Database maintenance experience with Reorg, Runstats, Rebind, Export, Import, Load, Auto-load, Backup and Restore utilities.
  • Scripting experience using SQL and DB2 Administration API with IBM Object REXX, Windows Shell Scripts, and JScript with Windows Scripting Host (WSH) interfaces.
  • Database backup, restore, and roll-forward recovery experience using advanced recovery techniques.
  • High availability (HA) experience implementing Microsoft Clustering Services (MSCS) for fail over recovery in both a SCSI and SAN attached disk subsystems environment.
  • Database monitoring and tuning experience using DB2’s Performance Monitor, Snapshot Monitor, Event Monitor, Explain, Visual Explain, and Index Advisor performance tools.
  • System and database security and data auditing experience using table definitions, triggers, data replication, and the DB2 Audit Facility.
  • Stored procedure, user defined function, and user defined table functions experience with JAVA Development Kit (JDK).
  • Database benchmarking experience using Quest Software Benchmark Factory and Mercury Interactive Load Runner benchmarking tools.
  • Problem identification, management, and resolution experience with DB2 diagnostics, trace facilities, database analysis reporting tool (DART), and DB2 “Backdoor” debugger.
  • Distributed relational database architecture (DRDA) and data replication experience using IBM’s DB2 Connect and DB2 Data Replication to interface with mainframe databases.
  • Database analysis and design experience using Power Designer Data Architect, Embarcadero ER/Studio, and Computer Associates ERwin.
